After Kwan Ho (Charmaine Sheh) married and emigrated to the United States, Man Cho (Julian Cheung) continued with his life in Macau. He is busy as ever working as a tour guide and has developed a close bond with mute neighborhood friend Kiki (Joe Chen). In 1999 on the day of Macau's handover back to China, Kwan Ho (Charmaine Sheh) shows up out of the blue to join birthday celebrations for her mother (Nancy Sit). That night, she attempts to take her own life. Her husband and children had suddenly passed away in a car accident, and she has lost her will to live. With Man Cho's support, Kwan Ho gradually heals and starts anew while also confronting new challenges and the ambiguous unspoken love that has tied them together all these years.
